Diving Guide
Bali sits at the convergence of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, creating nutrient-rich waters that support a stunning variety of marine life. From the legendary USS Liberty wreck in Tulamben to manta ray encounters at Nusa Penida, Bali offers world-class diving for all experience levels. Water temperatures hover between 26-29°C year-round, making it comfortable to dive in a 3mm wetsuit.
A rocky cleaning station on Nusa Penida's southern coast where manta rays arrive to be cleaned by wrasse. The site features strong currents and surge, requiring good buoyancy control. Mantas often approach within arm's length.
One of the world's most accessible wreck dives, this WWII US Army cargo ship sits just 30 metres from shore in 5-30m of water. Completely encrusted in corals and sponges, the wreck teems with life at every depth, making it suitable for both snorkelers and advanced divers.
Famous for seasonal mola mola (ocean sunfish) encounters from July to October. The site drops off steeply to 40m+ with strong thermoclines that bring cold water and the sunfish. Experienced divers descend along the wall hoping for an encounter with these bizarre, gentle giants.
A gentle sloping reef in a sheltered bay, perfect for macro photography and beginner divers. The sandy bottom and coral bommies harbour an incredible variety of critters including blue-ringed octopus, frogfish, and dozens of nudibranch species.
A small Japanese patrol boat from WWII sitting in very shallow water, accessible from shore. The wreck is a macro photographer's paradise, covered in soft corals and home to rare critters. Night dives here are exceptional with Spanish dancers, decorator crabs, and hunting cuttlefish.
Part of West Bali National Park, Menjangan offers dramatic wall diving with stunning hard coral gardens and the best visibility in Bali. The underwater temple wall features massive gorgonian fans, barrel sponges, and regular sightings of reef sharks and eagle rays.
